- Does it concern anyone else that the government gives GM money, then GM uses part of that money to hire a lobbyist who lobbies the government for more money? Good for GM, good for the lobbyist, not so good for the taxpayer. Can you say "free market"?
- Everyone in the news media is quick to quote two people when they want a conservative viewpoint. One is Rush Limbaugh, who has never been elected to anything and whose livelihood is based on how much controversy he can stir. The other is Newt Gingrich, who has never lived up to any commitment he ever made (see "Contract with America"), most especially the one he made to his wife. Why doesn't the media ever talk to someone with some common sense? Oh, that's right, I forgot, they're in Washington, DC.
- The media also says that American Idol runner-up, Adam Lambert, is "keeping his sexual orientation a secret." Really? From who? That's got to be the worst kept secret in America! I'm guessing there are only two parties who know he's gay - the Democrats and the Republicans.
- What is the fascination with the Duggar family of "18 and Counting"? The title must be referring to the IQ of the mother and father. If you're that fascinated with procreation you should get some rabbits. I feel sorry for them. Not just because they have all those kids, but mostly because they live in Arkansas. If anyone ever needed a TV in the bedroom, it's them.
- I'll be glad when the confirmation hearings are over for Sonia Sotomayor. I'm already tired of the rhetoric. Thank goodness no one goes back to something I said 10 years ago and quotes me. I don't know where she stands, though it must be to the left of center or she wouldn't have been nominated in the first place. Seems to me she couldn't do much worse than the current crop of robed geniuses. They certainly haven't set the bar very high.
- Finally, have you seen what the price of gas is doing lately? Last summer, then-candidate Obama said gas was high because the Bush administration was in bed with the oil companies and OPEC. Today, President Obama is in Saudi Arabia meeting with the king to "open a dialogue with the Muslim world." I believe that's what they call "spin".
Till next time.......
